Ion was a region of steppe and plains in The Lands of the Highpriest. It comprised several nomadic tribes, city-states and petty kingdoms. The City of Ion acted as a point of convergence between these peoples and was the traditional residence of the Archmage.
Society
editIonic society was highly patriarchal. Only men were allowed to learn or teach arcane magic which meant that women were barred from most positions of power. Reading, writing and ruling was similarly the purview of men. The priesthoods and temples of Ion were staffed entirely by women however.
At least one woman, Boadicea the Bloody, has served as Archmage of Ion though she reigned under a male pseudonym.
